Dental professionals across the capital can access a new state-of-the-art dental education facility – the London Dental Education Centre (LonDEC). LonDEC has a comprehensive training suite including a dental skills training room equipped with 26 high tech phantom head stations, which enable dental procedures to be carried out on realistic mannequins. All stations have a dedicated PC and flat screen monitor and many of the stations have operating microscopes, all of which are video enabled. In addition, LonDEC houses two full immersion simulation suites for team training in both the latest decontamination guidelines (HTM 01-05) and crisis management of medical emergencies. The decontamination suite allows the dental team to carry out procedures in decontamination with the guidance of an infection control tutor
