Support you to "make every contact count," by enabling patients with chronic disease to take ownership and make real changes that they value
Explore current research on using coaching for health
Identify the right mix of professional knowledge sharing and coaching.
Other dates are available for this course (see below) but we are seeking to keep local groups together. If you cannot attend the dates in your area, but would like to attend one of the alternative training dates, please email our external project coordinator Thom Townsend.
What is Coaching?
Coaching supports people to set goals and identify ways to achieve them. A healthcare professional will have the medical knowledge and information which the patient needs, but can use a coaching approach to give patients ownership of their own health goals and work with the patient to create commitment to achieving them. The coaching approach is based on compelling evidence that taking a collaborative approach will dramatically increase the likelihood of behavioural change.
What others have said about London Deanery coaching training
"I have a range of techniques which can be integrated into my patient encounters immediately."
"A health coaching approach does not necessarily require more time, in fact, by asking questions in the style of health coaching, it may save time by addressing issues more quickly or determining which issues the patient is not ready to discuss."
"It will undoubtedly be beneficial to my career and medical education."
We have limited capacity on the courses and expect significant interest, and we will be offering these courses to a much wider audience from next week (23rd January). We expect places to be reserved quickly, so please visit here to find out more and reserve your place.
