For new DF1 Trainees
Welcome to DF1 training in London and congratulations on securing your training position (subject to your success in BDS or equivalent) in the London Deanery.
The next stage of the process will result in you being allocated to a practice within your chosen scheme. To achieve this outcome, you will be asked to complete a preference sheet to indicate your first, second, third etc., choice of training practice.
To help you in making your choice(s), each scheme will host an open day or open evening at which representatives from the training practices will be present. It will be an opportunity for you to meet members of the practice team and enquire about the DF1 Training experience offered at the practice. Attendance at the open day is not mandatory.
If you wish to visit any of the practices before making your final choice(s), then you must contact the practice directly and check whether they are agreeable to you visiting the practice. A visit to the practice is not a mandatory requirement.
Trainer selection interviews will be complete in February and the final list of approved training practices and details, will be available on the London Deanery website in week commencing 12 March 2012. Preference sheets will also be available from this date.
Your completed preference sheet must be returned to the Programme Director of your chosen scheme no later than 5 April 2012 and you will be notified about which practice you have been allocated to shortly afterwards. The decision will be made on the basis of your interview score and ranking and taking into account your expressed preferences.

Please note the DF1 start date in London is w/c 3 September 2012. There is a mandatory induction for all DF1 trainees during the fortnight 10 – 21 September 2012.
