PMETB Trainers’ and Trainees’ Surveys Launched

28 Sep 2009

The Postgraduate Medical Education and Training Board (PMETB) has launched summary analysis reports for two major national surveys, one of trainee doctors and the other of the trainers that train them. The surveys form an essential part of the work PMETB does to quality assure postgraduate medical education and training in the UK.

This year saw the launch of the inaugural trainers’ survey, to which there were over 10,000 responses. In addition, improvements to the trainees’ survey included:

  • Over 33,000 respondents
  • Specialty-specific and Foundation-specific items developed in conjunction with the medical Royal Colleges and Faculties and the GMC.
  • The addition of Foundation doctors to the survey population.

The full results of both surveys, which allow comparison by deanery and by hospital, are available at http://reports.pmetb.org.uk/

Downloadable copies of the reports, and more information on the surveys, are available here.
