Locum Appointment

Training

There may be situations when a training placement is vacant for a period of time. Where the vacancy is between 3 months and 1 year, the Specialist Training Committee (STC) may decide to offer the placement as a Locum Appointment - Training (LAT). Appointment to a LAT position does not confer a training number on the successful applicant, nor does it give the post holder an automatic entry into the grade the next time a substantive post arises. A LAT appointment does, subject to the prospective agreement of the Royal College or Faculty, allow the holder to obtain credit towards CCST when they enter the post substantively.

Service

Locum Appointments - Service (LAS) are dealt with by individual trusts. Recruitment is not co-ordinated by the Deanery.
