Career Information
Important note:
The London Deanery is not able to offer any jobs. All appointments are made in open competition and jobs are advertised through periodicals e.g. BMJ Careers and The Lancet
Clinical Attachments
Many International Medical Graduates find it useful to undertake a clinical attachment whilst they are preparing for their PLAB 2 exam or after they have completed PLAB. It is generally recommended to undertake a clinical attachment after completing PLAB, when the IMG is job ready.
Unfortunately the Deanery is unable to arrange a clinical attachment for you. Doctors use various methods to organise a clinical attachment. It can be useful if you already have a contact working in a UK hospital who is willing to supervise you on attachment or can refer you to a colleague. The main way is to approach the Human Resources Department and the Trust Postgraduate Centre Manager as there may be a structured Clinical Attachment Programme taking place at the Trust. Below is a web-link to a site that has contact details of all the NHS Trusts in the UK.

For convenience, you may prefer to look at the hospitals near where you are living.

EU Doctors
As UK is a part of the EU, the International Medical Graduates from EU countries have similar rights to UK Medical Graduates. However, it is advisable for EU doctors to undertake a clinical attachment.
