Foundation Project for Refugee Doctors - CAPS

National Clinical Apprenticeship Scheme (CAPS)

The aim of CAPS is to prepare you for Foundation Training and improve your chances of getting a job.

The CAPS scheme is endorsed by the UK Foundation Programme Office and delivered by London Deanery.

In London, we are offering medical work placements in primary and secondary care at F2 level with intensive education and generic skills training. You will gain a good understanding of Foundation competencies and assessment procedures.  The scheme will accommodate several cohorts of doctors.  The third cohort of doctors will begin their placements probably in April and therefore finish in July.  The definite dates for the start of the programme will be posted on this website in due course.

As a scheme endorsed by the UK Foundation Programme Office it will ensure that those who successfully complete the scheme are recognised as suitable for competing for Foundation Posts. It is important that you read the Foundation Programme Guidance carefully for details of how the CAPS scheme will potentially benefit you in progressing to a Foundation post. This information will be available shortly on the UK Foundation Programme website.

If you are a refugee doctor and wish to apply for a paid supernumerary Foundation post then please look at the advertisement in the download panel to see if you are eligible.

The deadline for applications to reach the Deanery is 5pm on Monday 24 October 2011.

Shortlisted candidates will be notified by 5 November 2011.

Interviews will be held for the fourth cohort on 14 November 2011.

If you are successful in applying for these posts, it is expected that you will commit yourself to this education and clinical experience programme in order to be able to compete successfully for posts in the UK.

You may post your application and supporting documentation to:
