Recruitment to NIHR TCC Academic Clinical Fellows

The recruitment process for NIHR TCC Academic Clinical Fellows for posts commencing in London from April 2010 onwards is now in progress.

These specialties will provide opportunities across London and KSS, with some also including opportunities in Essex and Herts.

These posts will be open to applicants seeking to enter specialist training, as well as existing Specialist Registrars (SpRs) and Specialty Registrars (StRs) who meet the entry requirements of the programme(s) applied for. Successful candidates will receive an academic National Training Number (NTN (A))

Only applicants who can provide evidence of potential for outstanding academic achievement will be considered.

Eligibility

All candidates must be eligible for registration with the GMC. Candidates must also ensure that they meet the eligibility criteria with regards to immigration status, English language skills, and the minimum educational entry criteria for the specialty and level as set out in the person specification. Where equivalent postgraduate qualifications or experience are being offered as evidence of entry criteria, it is essential that the candidate provides confirmation from the Royal College if shortlisted for an interview. Shortlisted applicants must be able to provide evidence of their immigration status at interview.

Immigration

UK and EEA nationals and IMG doctors whose immigration status entitles them to work without restriction in the UK are eligible to apply for academic training. IMGs can provide evidence of immigration status by means of a date stamped passport or identity card and an accompanying letter from the Home Office detailing which type of visa has been granted. These documents need to be current at the application closing date. You will be asked to bring your passport or identity card and any proof of your immigration status to any interviews or assessments you attend. The Postgraduate Dean confirms that these placements and / or programmes have the required educational and Dean’s approval.

This Training Programme will also be equally open to those who may, either from the outset or subsequently, wish to train flexibly or job share. Approval must be sought from the Deanery prior to interview and this is subject to availability of suitable training placements.

Applicants need to be aware that although trainees' preferences will be considered when making decisions on placements, final decisions take into account the service needs of all sites within our training programmes and individual training needs
