NIHR TCC CLINICAL LECTURESHIP TRAINING IN PAEDIATRICS

In association with the Eastern and the Kent, Surrey and Sussex (KSS) deaneries

Applications are invited for appointment as a NIHR TCC Clinical Lecturer on the Specialty Training Programme in PAEDIATRICS in LONDON commencing in April – August 2010. An Academic National Training Number (NTN(A)) is available for these placements if required.

These ST4+ NIHR TCC Clinical Lectureship posts allow the successful candidate to spend 50% of their time in clinical training and 50% of their time undertaking research at the designated HEI. Research will be supervised by an appropriately matched senior academic.

The training programmes for these lectureships have been selected through national competition to provide high quality academic training for individuals in specialty training who can demonstrate that they have outstanding potential for development as a clinical academic in research and/or education.

These posts are open to trainees who will have submitted/been awarded PhD/MD thesis by time of application.

All candidates should be eligible for registration with the GMC, have completed 2 years’ Higher Specialist Paediatric Training (or equivalent) and possess MRCPCH. Where equivalent postgraduate qualifications or experience are being offered as evidence of entry criteria, it is essential that the candidate provides confirmation from the Royal College if shortlisted for an interview.

Candidates must also ensure that they meet the eligibility criteria with regards to immigration status, English language skills, and the minimum educational entry criteria for the specialty and level as set out in the person specification. Eligibility criteria must be met by the application closing date for the relevant specialty/level. Shortlisted applicants must be able to provide evidence of their immigration status at interview.

The Postgraduate Dean confirms that this placement and / or programme has the required educational and Dean’s approval. The Training Programme is equally open to those who may, either from the outset or subsequently, wish to train flexibly or job share.  Approval must be sought from the Deanery prior to interview and this is subject to availability of suitable training placements.  Applicants need to be aware that although trainees' preferences are considered when making decisions on placements, final decisions take into account the service needs of all sites within our training programmes.

In the event of further training opportunities becoming available in any of the programmes managed by the London Deanery, shortlisted candidates may also be considered for these posts.
