Process FAQs

Q. How do I make an application?

A. You can start the application process by clicking on the ‘apply online’ link at the bottom of the job posting. You will be taken through each section of the online application form step-by-step. If you require further assistance please see our guidance for applicants document. If this doesn’t answer your question please email us at ldnrecruit@londondeanery.ac.uk

Q. Can I send a speculative CV?

A. Unfortunately we are unable to accept speculative CVs. We suggest that you check our site regularly for specific jobs that may interest you or register for job alerts.

Q. Can I make a postal application?

A. All applications should be submitted online unless otherwise stated on the advert. If you have a disability which makes it difficult for you to apply by this method please email us at ldnrecruit@londondeanery.ac.uk or phone us on 020 7866 3176.

Q. How can I check my application has been received?

A. You will receive an automated confirmation email shortly after your online application is submitted.

Q. I have missed the closing date. Can I still apply?

A. Unfortunately, once the post has closed no further applications will be accepted.

Q. Do internal candidates get preference?

A. Some roles may be advertised for London Deanery staff only and we will be unable to consider external applicants for these positions. For those roles advertised externally on our website all applications (both internal and external) are assessed equally against the requirements listed within the person specification.

As part of the ‘Two Ticks’ commitment we do offer a guaranteed interview to disabled candidates who meet the essential criteria listed in the person specification and who specify on their application form that they wish to be put forward as as a ‘Two Ticks’ applicant.

Q. Where will correspondence be sent to me?

A. Correspondence will be sent to the email address you nominate on your application form. If you think that you should be receiving correspondence but haven't please check your spam and firewall settings. Alternatively you can always login and view the most recent emails sent in relation to your application(s).

If your contact details change please login, go to the section titled ‘Main Details’ and update your details as required.

If you don’t currently have an email account please see our Technical FAQs section for details of how to set one up.

If you require correspondence to be sent by means other than email please phone the recruitment team on 020 7866 3176 or write to us at the following address:

Please include details of your: first name; last name; address; phone number; and the title and reference number for the role(s) you have applied for.

Q. When will I know if I have been successful? What is the timescale involved?

A. You will be informed after short-listing if you have been selected to attend interview. Dependant on the volume of applications received short-listing normally takes place within a few working days of the advertised closing date.. If it is anticipated that candidates cannot be notified of the outcome of their application within this period then the recruitment team may contact you to notify you of the delay.

Q. How do I get feedback on my application if I am unsuccessful?

A. If you wish to receive feedback on an unsuccessful application then please follow the guidance provided in the notification correspondence (if you don’t have copy to hand you can also login and view the most recent emails relating to your applications(s)).

Q. I cannot make the interview date/time. Is it possible to re-arrange it?

A. Wherever possible we will publish the planned interview date(s) in the job advert. In addition if your application is short-listed the panel will try to ensure you are notified in writing at least five working days prior to interview.

If you are unable to attend please contact ldnrecruit@londondeanery.ac.uk as soon as possible and we will try to accommodate your request. Please note that we can not guarantee to re-schedule an interview slot as it is dependant on the diary commitments of the interview panel.

Q. When will my references be taken up?

A. References will ordinarily be taken up only if you’re offered the position after interview; however there may be instances where we need to contact your referees in advance. If you do not wish us to contact your referees until after interview, please tick the relevant box in the reference section of our application form.

Q. What is the ‘Disability Two Ticks Symbol’ and the Guaranteed Interview Scheme (GIS)?

A. ‘Two Ticks’ is a recognition given by Jobcentre Plus to employers based in Great Britain who have agreed to take action to meet five commitments regarding the employment, retention, training and career development of current and/or potential employees.

As part of this commitment we guarantee an interview to any disabled person who has indicated that they would like to be interviewed under the Guaranteed Interview Scheme (GIS), provided they meet the minimum or essential criteria for that particular advertised job.
